Air Quality Committee
Cleaning up DC's smoggy air and the DC regional clean air plan.
Volunteer Opportunities
Does DC's Air Pollution Affect You?
Volunteer to speak out. Do you or your family members have asthma or a
respiratory disease? Does summer smog seriously affect your/their health?
Sierra Club's Clean Air Campaign is looking for individuals who are willing
to speak at public hearings or events about how ozone air pollution affects
their health.
Are you a doctor or nurse concerned about air
pollution?
We are also looking for health professionals to speak at similar events
about the effect on health of ozone air pollution. If you are interested,
please contact Sierra Club Conservation Organizer Melanie Mayock (703)
312-0533 x110, or attend the Air Quality and Transportation Committee monthly
meeting (check our Sierra Club Washington, DC Chapter Calendar of Events
for meeting times).
Audiences Needed for Air Quality Video
Sierra Club is launching an educational campaign about air pollution and
sprawl in the DC region using a nine-minute video, "Red Alert! The
Washington Region Fights Unhealthy Air." We need volunteers to help
show this video throughout the area to organizations such as PTA's, neighborhood
associations, churches, etc. Free copies of the video are available.
If you know of an organization that might be interested in seeing the
video, please contact Sierra Club Conservation Organizer Melanie Mayock
(703) 312-0533 x110, or attend the Air Quality and Transportation Committee
monthly meeting (check our Sierra Club Washington, DC Chapter Calendar
of Events for meeting times)
